EARTHQUAKE – USGS 7.3 Yaguaraparo, Venezuela, NEAR TRINIDAD

EARTHQUAKE – USGS 7.3 Yaguaraparo, Venezuela, NEAR TRINIDAD
August 21
18:05 2018

An earthquake measuring 7.3 by U.S.G.S at Yaguaraparo, Venezuela, and approximately 130 miles west of Port Of Spain, TRINIDAD occurred at 5.31pm Trinidad time or 3.31pm Belize time. The island nation of Trinidad and Tobago is at 66.22 degrees west of Greenwich Meridian and observes AST (Atlantic Standard Time).

That part of Venezuela is on it’s north-eastern coast and very close to Trinidad and Tobago.

The massive tremor shook the main city of Port of Spain like a Paint Mixer at early evening rush hour, and the 1.2 million residence of T&T scrambled to get to a safe spot in the streets.

We just cannot imagine the horror of a 7.3 earthquake anywhere near Belize, but Trinidadians seem to have taken it in stride. The office of T&T Disaster Preparedness Management said that the last time Trinidad suffered a major quake was a 4.7 in 2010 and a 7.3 in 2007.

The Government of Trinidad an Tobago has not issued an official report of casualties yet.
