A brazen jailbreak in which three prisoners managed to escape from the Independence Police Station last night during a massive thunderstorm remains under investigation by Police, and a manhunt for the trio was launched in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The gang of prisoners who Police say are not considered dangerous since they were all on remand on charges of burglary have been identified as Selvin Linarez, 20, Gregory Flowers, 25 and Kendale Flores, 22. The group reportedly made the dash for freedom sometime between 8:00 – 9:00 Wednesday night.

Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, ACP Joseph Myvett told reporters on Thursday that the trio were initially on remand at the central prison but were taken down to Independence for their court hearing.

“It is my understanding that the cell door was damaged as well as the lock. This apparently occurred during the process of a thunderstorm last night. There was one additional prisoner in the said cellblock who did remain in custody,” Myvett told the press.

Myvett indicated that he doesn’t know how many officers were on duty at the Police Station at the time of the escape but what he can confirm is that a manhunt has been launched for the capture of the prisoners.
