Three Belize City minors who are well-known to law enforcement authorities are currently detained by Police for allegedly robbing the Cortez Tortilla Factory with a toy gun and escaping with $16 in cash. A taxi-driver is also being held by Police for the same crime.

While the suspects have not been named by Police since they are all minors, except for the cab driver, Police say that charges against them have not yet been levied because the investigation is ongoing.

On Wednesday, July 18th, Police were called out to a robbery report on C Street in King’s Park, Belize City where they came across a suspicious looking taxi in the neighborhood. When they attempted to pursue the cab, three minors got out and attempted to flee the scene. They were all captured by Police.

A search inside the cab led Police to a toy gun, while the stolen cash pan and a cellular phone were found in the immediate vicinity where the robbery had occurred. The official Police report states that on Wednesday evening an employee at the establishment reported that while she was behind the counter of the business, two male persons with rags tied over their faces entered the premises and jumped over the counter.

One of the individuals was armed with a knife and the other with what appeared to be a firearm. One of the men demanded that she turned over the day’s sales, and as a result she handed over a cash pan containing $16 and her cellular phone valued at $850.00
