BELIZEANS KEEPING THE 10th. ALIVE, IN HONOR OF THE BATTLE OF ST. GEORGES CAYE OF 1798
September 10
12:42 2018

Before Belize gained its independence from Britain in 1981 the biggest day for parades and national holiday was the 10th. of September. Today the spirit of the 10th. is observed with the traditional parade, and Belizeans came out to the streets of the City by the thousands to witness the observation and celebration of the Battle Of Saint George’s Caye of 1798.

The partying began shortly after the parade finished at yaborough field, and many people went to the after parade party at the Battle Field Park.

Even the youngsters from many families had lots of fun on the inflatable slides and jumping-trampoline, there were a lot of happy faces and the sound of children’s laughter, and for a moment you’d forget every piece of bad news about gang violence that has affected this city in recent days.

The police has come out in droves at all these festivities, so i am certain that their efforts to mitigate crime before it occurs is probably a smart strategy.

AFTER THE PARADE MANY FAMILIES WENT TO THE BATTLE FIELD PARK
