THE REPORTER: News Staff, -

Late today Police announced that Darrell Alexander Usher, 32, was formally charged for 5 counts of attempted murder, 5 counts of use of deadly means of harm, 5 counts of aggravated assault, 2 counts of grievous harm, 2 counts of harm and 1 count of wounding. He was arraigned today and remanded until February 15th, 2019.

Jessica Sagastume, 37, her nephew, 14, and her niece, 18, are all hospitalized at the Western Regional Hospital in stable condition with varying degrees of injuries to their bodies. Sagastume reportedly sustained fractures to both her legs and is said to be immobile. Her niece reportedly sustained injuries to her head and her nephew has injuries to his arms, back and feet.

Around 1:30 a.m. on November 27th Sagastume and her two children had just left a family gathering and were returning to their home on Cemetery Road in Belmopan when they met Usher inside the house.

Family sources claims that a short while after dropping off the female and her two kids, one of the children showed up at their home in a traumatized state and indicated that his mother’s common-law husband was in a fit and breaking items inside the house.

Sagastume’s cousin Blanca Choc said that when she raced over she found her cousin and one of the kids in the yard, allegedly attempting to escape from the man who was in the process of reversing the vehicle on them.

Choc said that the first attempt was unsuccessful and the two women and their four children left from the house and were walking on the road when the individual drove past them and went up the street, made a turn then allegedly drove the vehicle directly into the group.

While four persons were injured, only three were hospitalized.
