A 70-year-old woman of a Marage Road address in Ladyville is today recovering from a gunshot wound she sustained on Thursday night while inside her home.

The woman identified as Margaret Elijio sustained a gunshot wound to her right upper shoulder and was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment where she remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Elijio reported to Police that around 10:15 p.m. on March 14th. she was inside her room when she heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the direction of her front door accompanied by loud banging.

The elderly woman said she got up and went in the living room to make checks and that was when she heard two more loud bangs, felt a burning sensation and realized that she had been struck by a bullet. When Police responded to the scene about ten minutes later they found four bullet holes on the front door, and two holes inside on a wall where bullets penetrated.
