A youth reportedly disappeared under strange circumstances after he reportedly jumped into the sea during a caye trip in the presence of relatives.

According to Jael Sjogreen, 23, a fisherman of Dangriga Town, on Monday evening around 5:30 he went to South Water Caye to do some fishing with his cousin Fredrick Lammey Jr., 16, and another person, Jael Sjogreen said, that while on the trip Lammey began to behave strangely.

Sjogreen told Police that he decided to take Lammey back to Dangriga on Thursday. He said that on the way back, Lammey became so disorderly and disruptive that he had to be restrained in the boat with a rope. Sjogreen claims that on the return journey the boat’s engine also malfunctioned, and that Lammey managed to free himself and jump out of the boat and into the sea.

Sjogreen said that after they repaired the boat engine, they tried to locate Lammey but were unable to. Police are investigating the incident.
